This past weekend our bestest friends came to visit from Oklahoma, bringing their nearly 2-year-old twins George and Abigail with them! We have not seen our friends since November and the kids had a BLAST running around, playing, stealing toys, etc.
On Friday, Matt and Kendal went for a quick kayak on the river while Carrie and I stayed with the kids. It was an overcast but nice day, so we had lots of time to play outside and run off tons of twin energy. The kids were all fascinated with the wheelbarrow full of dirty water - why, I'll never know! Wagons, toys and balls all around yet they all go straight for the mess. We then took the kids to the Honeycomb for a yummy lunch, then naptime (yay!). We all needed a nap by 1PM! That night, Kendal fried fish and we had a great meal together. Then it was bedtime - we put all four of the kiddos in the nursery, turned on some music and they went to sleep! Miracles do happen!
The next day, we hosted a big pot-luck at the house in honor of National Home Brewers Day. The bug has bitten Kendal big-time - he even installed a kegerator in preparation for the event! About 25 people came over, many with kids. It poured outside but everyone had a blast. Carrie and Matt braved the rainy yard with their twins at one point but I just couldn't do it. The best part of the day for the kids was the most worrysome for the adults... One of our guests pulled his truck around the back of the house to unload some supplies and left it in the yard during the downpour. We didn't realize how boggy the yard was... until the truck got stuck when he tried to leave! Even worse, another friend pulled his truck around to pull the first one out and HIS got stuck. Sigh. The kids thought it was the best thing ever, though - everyone crowded at the window and stared in awe as the guys worked to "unstuck the truck." I think we heard a little Top Gun victory music as the trucks finally made their way out of the mud...
